Title
Goldweight; Fish laying on its Side
            Culture
Ashanti or Asante
            Place Made
Western Africa, Ghana
            Description
"While the face of this fish is stylized, the form, the textured body, and the detailed fins are very naturalistic in feel, illustrating the goldweight brasscaster's mastery in capturing the essence of the animal. The fish's mouth gapes open, and this goldweight possibly suggests the Asante proverb: 'When an animal is not going to bite you, it does not show its teeth at you.'"
